Preparing documents to set up a seller account on Amazon Seller Central
Before starting the process of setting up a seller account on Amazon Seller Central, gather the required documents to smoothly navigate through the registration process.
Items you need to set up a seller account on Amazon:
Credit card
Scan of ID card / passport
Proof of address of the account manager
Phone number
Company VAT number
Bank account number
Credit card required during registration
A credit card is mandatory when setting up the account. It does not have to be issued in the company's name, it just needs to be active and enable online payments. Amazon will charge a fee for the account – currently 39 EUR net monthly for a Professional account.
After full registration and linking a bank account, you can change the payment method and delete your card details.
TIP: New accounts are set up as Professional by default. If you do not yet have products, you can d downgrade your account to Amazon Individual to avoid fees.
Proof of identity – ID card / passport
You are required to provide details about the owner/shareholder or account manager (address, nationality, date of birth, document number, expiry date). Then you need to upload a scan of the document:
ID card – both sides in one file,
passport – page with photo.
The scan must be of good quality.
Proof of the account manager’s details (utility bill)
Amazon requires a utility bill (electricity, gas, water, phone):
not older than 3 months,
matching the details of the account manager,
in good quality, preferably in .pdf format.
This is a condition for full account activation.
Phone number
During registration, you must provide a phone number where you will receive an activation code – required for two-factor authentication. The number serves as the primary contact and can be changed later in settings.
Company VAT number
This is not required during the registration stage, but is necessary for account activation. Add it in Settings > Account Info > VAT information > Add a VAT/GST registration number. After a few days, the status will change from “Pending Verification” to confirmed.
Bank account number
You must provide a bank account number where Amazon will transfer funds:
You can add a Polish account – then Amazon will convert transfers from EUR/GBP to PLN.
Even a currency account in a Polish bank will not protect against currency conversion.
The best solution: an account in a euro zone bank (for EUR) and a UK account (for GBP).
Summary
Ensure you have all the required documents and information before starting registration. This will allow you to activate your account faster and start selling.
