How to prepare an analysis on Amazon Vendor in a few steps?
26 Apr 2022
The Amazon Portal regularly introduces new solutions to make it easier for sellers to use this platform. A new feature in the Amazon Vendor program is the Amazon Selection Assistant. With it, you can quickly check whether the products you want to introduce to the marketplace are already offered there. This is important due to the possibility of linking your own offer to an existing listing.
Check how to use it and speed up the process of entering Amazon.
How does the Amazon Selection Assistant work?
The new service allows you to quickly check whether the products you want to list are already among the offers available on the platform. You simply need to upload your entire product portfolio to receive an analysis showing existing listings for the provided EAN codes along with information on how many of them are not yet available on Amazon.
This way, you do not have to manually search for each product by GTIN – within a few moments, you receive complete information.
How does it work?
On the left side, at the last point, you will find a link to the file (Use this template), which you need to fill in and upload in the panel. Once you fill in the mandatory fields, the system will generate data about the current offer and possibilities for its expansion.
Remember to fill in all the required fields – only then will the results be reliable.
What does the file I need to fill in look like?
The file is very simple. Only the column with the product ID is mandatory, but it's worth filling in all three:
choose the type of identification code (EAN, UPC, ASIN, GTIN, or JAN),
provide the chosen code,
enter the product name.
How to read and analyze the results?
After generating the report, you will see product categories, including:
those that are not yet available on Amazon,
available from other Vendors,
requiring additional data to be filled in,
unavailable,
with a recommendation to change the price,
already present on the platform.
This categorisation allows you to thoroughly review selected offers, for example, only those that no one is selling yet. Information about competitors' listings will help you decide whether to link to an existing product or to list your own. It is also worth paying attention to pricing recommendations – in the Vendor program, you have less influence on pricing policy than in FBM or FBA, which is why Amazon's recommendations are crucial to remain competitive.
Automation of portfolio analysis
The Amazon Selection Assistant is a tool that significantly speeds up the decision to introduce new products. With the analysis, you gain a clear view of market niches in a short time and can develop an effective competing strategy.
