Amazon and a German Tax Certificate
Amazon, in accordance with German regulations, requires sellers to obtain a so-called German Tax Certificate. To apply for it, one must be a registered taxpayer in Germany and have a Steuernummer (this is not the same as the German VAT number).
The application is submitted to the appropriate tax office (Finanzamt) in Germany – the one responsible for the country of origin of the entrepreneur.
For Polish companies, it looks like this:
A – G → Finanzamt Hameln
Süntelstraße 2, 31785 Hameln
email: poststelle@fa-hm.niedersachsen.de
H – M → Finanzamt Oranienburg
Heinrich-Grüber Platz 3, 16515 Oranienburg
email: poststelle.fa-oranienburg@fa.brandenburg.de
N – Z → Finanzamt Cottbus
Vom-Stein-Straße 29, 03050 Cottbus
email: poststelle.fa-cottbus@fa.brandenburg.de
Other entities according to § 18 (4e) UStG → also Finanzamt Cottbus.
After obtaining the Tax Certificate, it should be attached in Amazon in the Settings → VAT information section.
The form to submit can be found here: Application for Issuance of a Certificate (English).
